I have conservative friends. I get long with conservatives. I don’t shy away from constructive debates. It’s another thing completely when you bully, mock, and show utter disregard for the lives of the historically underserved.
Enough is enough, though. Saying Black Lives Matter should be one of the most benign things ever.
BLM Gifts for Tweenster
I am so much older and mature this year, I eat the marshmallows AND the cereal bits! Getting myself up now and getting to school myself (my laptop in the living room). I even put away most of my bear, except for Quilty because…well he’s the best.
Everyone is being so negative this year because, to be fair, so many bad things have happened, but I still think by the end of the year there will be things to be thankful for, that there will be something to be thankful for.
As of today, we only have one week of summer left. By now the beaches are getting chilly, but it’s still warm and sunny enough in the afternoon to enjoy a little ice cream on the boardwalk.
2020 has been a difficult year for a lot of people, and I doubt that it’s going get any easier any time soon. Let’s try to find something good this week, something fun or sunny or sweet to enjoy.
This has been a crazy and stressful RL week, but nothing makes me feel better than blogging something cute. Earlier this week I had to evacuate my home due to wildfires, but I am happy to say that I plan to return home tomorrow afternoon.
I really love this outfit and I have been looking forward to its release for awhile. I really like how fun it is and how intricate the detailing is, something that I love to see in Tweenster clothing. Like most Meshmerized released, there’s lots of color options for each face. I am really grateful that Meshmerized is one of my sponsors, because their clothing is always really beautiful.
Today the mailman brought me my school picture! We got to go into school one by one to get our school pictures taken, which was pretty school. The only good thing about going to school at home is we don’t need to wear our school uniforms. But we had to wear them for our pictures. So I guess it’s not too bad.
But I’m 11 now and starting sixth grade this year. Man it seems like I’ve been ten for 1084 days!
This week has been so stressful, trying to get used to school completely online. I know we were doing school online before, but the teacher said that they were “going easy on us” and this is “for real.” What does that even mean? And to top it all off, now I’m switching to middle school. More classes, more teachers. Now no friends! This is the worst!
Now we’ve got to have a class meeting, watch videos, answer questions, have another class meeting, do homework, then repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat. It was only a short week and I’ve got a four day week to recoop, but I don’t think I can do a whole semester like this…

The city challenge was probably my least favorite of all 6 challenges we were given. It’s not that I didn’t like it, it’s more that I couldn’t really do everything that I wanted to with the look.
My first instinct was to do a harajuku look, but I just felt like I couldn’t have done it justice. There’s some cool mesh for tweenster girls, but nothing really Japanesy except this Haori top. I after trying to make it into something that could be harauku, I gave up and just tried contemporary Japanese streetwear instead. I like it, but if I could do it over I would have picked darker tones of blue and maybe bright orange as a color scheme.
I ultimately decided on the Haori I am wearing because it was something I could accomplish with my limited skills in making clothing, and it fit with the theme I was going for. I knew I wanted to do an animal cafe as a destination in Tokyo, and bird cafes have always been my favorite.
While in RL I’ve been to cat, piglet, and raccoon cafes in Japan, the only bird cafe I’ve been to was in South Korea. I used to go to this little one before they shut down. I guess it never really caught on there. I did, however, adopt this lovebird I named Dieter.

This was the fourth look for TweenStar, and by far my favorite look to put together. However, getting a blazer with a t-shirt and shorts was pretty difficult, so I had to get creative. I hid the waist line of the baggy shorts full perm and alpha blended it with the top parts of the belted suit full perm to make this little school uniform.
I represented The X-Mansion from the Marvel Universe and, more specifically, The Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Wolverine and the X-Men is probably one of my favorite comic books because it focuses on Wolverine being the headmaster of the new school. The style is also very punkish, which is so me. Although this character below is an original idea, I based his style off of Kid Omega, Quentin Quire.
I love X-Men because it’s always been an allegory for civil rights struggles in America and the world, and focuses on self empowerment, acceptance, and individuality. What’s not to love!

TweenStar/AviStar concluded yesterday after a six hour event, and I am thrilled to stay that I won this year. This year was so much fun and I’ve come away with a couple of new friends. The cherry on top was scoring the highest among all the competitors, in YoungStar and AviStar as well. Kid avatars have a lot fewer resources to work with, so scoring well is my way of helping to show kid avatars can really do a lot with what little we have!
I am a little sad because this one of the few competitions I can do, and I think am better at doing this than blogging. I really like thinking about movement and posing, and how they can help transform a look. Hopefully I can be involved in some way in the future.
I am starting my blog posts about the finale with my last look, the formal challenge. Last year there were no formal meshes easily available, and now there are quite a few, and if you get creative, you can piece something together other meshes. But I was lucky enough to debut a new formal mesh for tweenster by Inspire. They make a lot of good meshes for tweenster, and many of the new ones are modifiable, which opens up lots of possibilities.
It’s not available yet, but it will be out in the next two weeks at the latest.
