So many goodies, so little time! Some days I just have a virtual fashion overload: here are the results of today’s shopping spree.
Those with a keen eye will probably have noticed I’ve changed my skin. Pearl is the latest release from Mallory Cowen and I have to say I was very impressed. Laqroki sells the skins as a 10 pack for L$1,990 so the skins work out to be very inexpensive, with a selection of makeups with both night and day looks included. The body has excellent definition with small details worked in for a very realistic finish, meaning you’ll look just as good in a bikini as you will in a full-length formal; true to its name, the skin does have a fine shimmer across it to give a real radiance, preventing it from feeling flat on the body.
While the body is gorgeous, the face is always key, and Pearl has a beautiful and youthful appeal in her features. The eyebrows are very downy, complimenting the skin tone, with softly drawn lashes that will work in place of your usual prim ones in a pinch. The lips are carefully drawn and work well with fuller shapes, extra detail being picked up with the gloss that features on the various lip shades. Both blush and eyeshadows are carefully applied and this shows even at some distance. Whether or not you’re an avid skin collector, I think Pearl may well have a place in your inventory, so would urge you to visit LAQ to see how the demos suit your shape.

I’m still hanging out at the Accessory Fair (until it gets late enough into the evening for the lag to drive me away) and if you haven’t already been then you’re really missing out on some fantastic pieces, like these new specs from Gos. They can be worn as spectacles or sunglasses depending on your mood: upon wearing you click to set the monogram on the arm, which picks up automatically on your avatar’s initials. Adjust every setting imaginable from font face to brightness and colour, even re-marking with different initials if you so desire. This is the kind of innovative scripting I love to see in virtual fashion and is one of the reasons I bubble over with girlie glee every time Gospel Voom releases: there’s always something new to discover, as well as standard features such as lens tinting and colour change to the entire frame, or the arms and front separately, with optional spray can add ons. The primwork is exceptional, squared frames running to sleek, straight arms that wrap close behind the ear, with detail of the integral grips fitting snugly to the bridge of the nose.
Here’s the best part: if you get down to the fair as visit the Gos booth, you can pick up Sentinel and the other new release, Intuition, for just L$295 a piece, about half of what they will retail for at a later date. You also get a free respray can included – Sentinel’s is the Camo style, with a bullet-holed lens which is brilliantly executed (pun intended).
Also from the fair are these earrings from Ticky Tacky which I favoured for their bright colours on a silver setting. The stones dangle from a central dropped chain which finishes with a silver star pendant to the end. Long without being over-exaggerated, these will work well with plenty of outfits and can be paired with other colourful jewellery like this bangle from Zaara which I’ve previously featured.

The outfit itself is built up from various pieces, starting with a pre-release from L’Abel. Neferia Abel kindly sent me review copies from her upcoming Spring collection (releasing on Saturday March 13th): she has created a selection of full outfits and separates, all of which will make great additions to your Spring wardrobe. This top is part of a set which can be worn as a body or as a little dress, the jersey fabric holding the figure, with keyhole detail on an open neckline and half-length sleeves to finish.
The shrug is from Mischief in cosy knit with chunky collar, the puffy sleeves cinching tight above the elbow, the front tied closed with the lengths left long to the front. As Mischief are currently having a sale you might want to hurry along: the discount won’t be available for before the store closes for a restructure.
The skirt is by So Many Styles. The bold floral print and foiled finish really make this zing, the high-waisted design wrinkled all the way up as through through shifts of movement. I love this kind of realistic detail being applied to an already great design; these kinds of finishing touches really make the clothing stand out.
My Docs are some of my favourite virtual shoes as they go so well with so many different outfits. It’s difficult not to sound like I’m fangurling when I talk about them, but to be honest I know anyone who owns a pair will agree when I say these are possibly the most innovative fashion item on the market with their three-shape morphing system that allows the user to shift between shiny new, slightly battered and couldn’t be bothered to do them up styles (aka ‘Pristine’, ‘Abused’ and ‘Loose’) at the touch of a button. Add to that the massive customisation provided through the update polishes and the fact that the primwork is so jaw-droppingly good, I don’t think you can do much better for your Lindens. This Desert polish is one of the add-ons that I particularly like, the texturing completely immaculate with shadows and highlights that really bring out the best in the boot.
Finally I’m wearing Emerald from Truth, one of this week’s releases. Pulled in a side pony tail bound with a section of hair, the fringe is side swept with a bias to the right, covering the one eye and leaving the other entirely exposed. I really do appreciate the way in with Truth Hawks manages the movement in his styles, using flexis sparingly to create hints of motion.
