What happens when you combine mesh with one of the most talented designers on the grid?  You get an item that is far more grand than nearly anything else you have experienced in Second Life.  That is how I felt when I walked into Mr. Loz Hyde’s mesh creation at The Home and Garden Expo.

Meshworx’s Grand Hall  won’t be up for sale till later this summer, but the entire experience will make you truly see how invaluable mesh will be to the Second Life community.  Exquisite detailing, and high quality texture work grace every crevice of this beautiful piece of architecture.  The stunning grand hall has a footprint of 60 x 40, making it the perfect size for a fantastic venue.  It’s roughly 740 prims (subject to change as Loz adds the final touches to the creation), fully custom textures, and will even have stage curtains that open and close on command.  The entire creation is filled with little surprises including two secret rooms to search for and discover.

One of the neatest features of this creation is the chandeliers.  The lighting fixtures boast around 5000 individual crystals, yet sit at only 14 prims and 5 prims in count depending on the size.  I certainly recommend stopping by the expo and checking out the place for yourself.  It is absolutely amazing how detailed and realistic mesh looks, and if mesh was something you were uncertain about, I am near certain this creation will change your mind about it.

I’m quite excited to see what else Mr. Hyde has up his sleeve in the future.  Keep an eye out, as this beautiful grand hall will be up for sale in just a short few months at Meshworx. I honestly believe it will be creations such as this that will change the way venues look throughout Second Life, and will set the standard for higher quality, more realistic hangouts across the grid.

I have been a badly behaving blogger this week.  Horrible really.  Every time I’ve gone to do it I’ve either been sidetracked or simply too lazy. (Sometimes you just need a mini vacation eh?)  I have a few blog posts in the making though, including one about an incredible grand hall from MESHWORX, and also my next Pay It Forward “victim”.  Also I will sort through (and struggle to decide) on the top three entries for the silly Golden Peen Contest.  Voting will occur sometime later this weekend as well I believe! The time and effort that has gone into that contest is just awesome! I’ve enjoyed watching everyone laugh over the photos/gifs/blog entries that people have created!  Those will be coming up probably this weekend, but today I’m going to tell you about the little hideaway I’ve created for myself.

I think it’s so important in Second Life to have a space to call your own.  Something that you have full control over to do as you please with, and a place you can escape to for a moment of solitude or privacy.  I just recently found a cheap plot of land, and created my own little oasis four thousand meters in the sky.  I’ve thrown on one of my favorite radio stations at my home, and it’s a perfect place to relax, unwind, and hang out at when i’m blogging, working in photoshop, etc…

A few items in my hideaway that I think are worth pointing out… My bed, couch, and rug are all from the store DIGS.  This store is absolutely amazing.  The furniture is perfect, stylish, and the poses/options for singles, friends, and lovers are flawless.  Another item I’d like to mention is the dom chair from Dutchie.  She has two version of this chair, male and female.  I picked up the male dom chair and umm… without going into a lot of private detail, let’s just say the chair has a lot of fun poses.  *grins innocently*

I have a few other items I wanted to show y’all today!  Wasabi Pills released a new mesh hair, and it’s probably my favorite release from them to date!  It’s called Lola and I thought it was the perfect hair to lounge around my hideaway in.  The hair comes with a color change HUD that allows you to play with a handful of color and pattern options for the bandanna as well as the hair ties.

Toki-Doki has released their adorable tied knot shirts in some fantastic solid colors.  Please ignore the fact that my shoulders are going through the top of the shirt in the photo.  I edited this photo at almost two in the morning last night, and that was completely my mistake.  These shirts aren’t mesh, and I just wasn’t paying attention with the pose I was using.  I then was just honestly too lazy to re-edit/re-take the photo. (See I told you’ve been horribly lazy lately!).  The shirt is near perfect in every way.  You can (Read more…) it in eight beautiful solid colors.

Lastly, I wanted to mention my new favorite jeans!  JANE released her new sweet n low jeans, and I loved them so much that I bought the fat pack. (which was a very reasonable price btw!)  The jeans are loose fitting, hang perfectly off your hips, and have a lot of lovely detailing.  Each color comes with two cuff options as well.

As bloggers, we spend nearly our entire time in this hobby praising and showing appreciation to designers across the grid.  It means quite a lot to us when a designer takes the time to show appreciation to us in return.  Adorkable Peapod of Adorkable Poses took sometime to create bloggers a lovely little conversation bubble blogger pack!  The bubble is unisex with 5 various static poses and a conversation bubble with eighteen different blogger themed phrases!  How cute!  Thank you so much Adorkable for taking the time to appreciate those who love and admire you daily.  It means quite a bit to us!

Anyalia Pearl of the newer store Spright has just released a pack of dresses called the Inspire Dress.  Many people have already picked up a copy of this adorable dress, and quite honestly I recommend fat packing the item because you’ll have a challenging time deciding on a color.  This dress has gotten a lot of attention not only because it’s beautiful, and well made, but also because some people have had issues with the textures rezzing properly on it.  I do not believe this is a fault of the designers, but once again one of those mesh glitches that have yet to be worked out.  Anyalia believes she’s found a solution and is in the process of sending out an updated version of the product to those who purchased it.  If for some reason you are still having issues with your dress textures rezzing fully there is a solution I’d like to share with you:

- Right click on an object near you and into edit mode.

- Then click on the dress while in edit mode.

- Go to the texture tab.

- Wait patiently a couple seconds or click on the texture box in the texture menu.

- Voila! Your dress should now be rezzed fully.

Silly Second Life, and it’s silly glitches sometimes!  Do not let this interfere from snatching up this dress, as I think Anyalia did an outstanding job on it.  Spright is certainly going to be a store with plenty to offer in the coming months!

Lastly, but definitely not least, I want to mention my cute, summer themed necklace from RezIspa Loc.  You can pick up this necklace in three various styles with three different types of flowers.  A daisy, a sunflower, or a rose.  I chose to wear the rose one with this particular outfit!  RezIspa Loc has recently released a whole slew of new inventory so I’d sneak on over when you find some time and see what all she has to offer!

I’ve been getting a big kick out of all the “Golden Peen” entries so far for the silly little contest I’m doing.  You are all so creative! Can’t wait to see more!

Let me start this post off with a warning.  This is entirely Miss Strawberry Singh’s fault.  Yup. You heard me.

You see… today, the lovely Miss Berry sent me a (not so) little gift.  A glowing gift! A golden gift! A very…big…yes big gift. (Is that thing bigger than my forearm?)  I was quite flattered by this lovely golden gift, but I wasn’t entirely sure what I should do with it. (Get those thoughts out of your head right this instant!)

I’ve decided to enlist the help of my fellow Second Lifers…. but first you will have to pick up your own copy of this beautiful golden gift.  You would think a gift of this…magnitude… would go for such a high price, but in fact, you can find this glowing gift on marketplace for only 15 lindens!  So go run along and pick up your copy, and I’ll tell you what to do next!

Cute. Cozy. and Classy.  The three words that come to mind when I think about the little cafe called Poche.  It seems often times, it’s hard to find a place in Second Life that exudes such a perfect amount of ambiance, and this place does it.  The little cafe is filled to the brim with adorable items (some which are freebies!), cozy little tables with great views, winding paths in the woods, and much more.  Piano music plays softly in the background, enticing you to find a place to curl up and spend the day.  I’ll keep this short and sweet today, as I want to encourage you to go and check the place out for yourself.  You won’t regret it!  It’s the perfect little spot to cozy up on a beautiful Sunday afternoon.

Like I mentioned yesterday, I had another coldLogic item I wanted to show off to y’all!  The new lockhart top is the perfect mix of sexy, classy, and sweet.  I picked it up in navy but it comes in a multitude of beautiful colors.  It was one of those tops I was very tempted to fatpack.

Elikatira just released three new beautiful mesh hairstyles.  This updo was my favorite of the three.  I swear, I can never have enough updos.  I love that the hair sweeps across the front of my face hiding part of it.  If you are like me you will have a hard time deciding which of the three to pick up…and you’ll more than likely leave with all of them.

I also wanted to mention a little something about what’s behind me in the photo above.  I know the photo does not do the product justice, so I want to encourage you all to check it out on your own.  Landscapes Unlimited has made a virtual Yosemite sim surround that is absolutely phenomenal.  It is the most beautiful sim surround i’ve seen to date.  Waterfalls, rivers, lakes, mountains, and trees all surrounding a sim.  Stop by the Landscapes Unlimited sim to see it in person.  It’s stunning!

I had a lot of fun with this pic….even if I had to take up a bad habit to make it! If you are interested in learning how to draw smoke by hand the tutorial I used can be found here.  I would like to play around more with it as I don’t think i’ve quite gotten the hang of it yet, but I am pretty happy with how this first example turned out!

Coldlogic had a big new release this week.  I will be showing off some items I purchased today as well as tomorrow.  Such a cute release with a few items that have a fantastic retro flair to them.  Coldlogic is one of those stores that I know I’m going to end up broke because every single thing they release is worth purchasing.

I really love the red lips on the new Belleza Lily V2 skin.  They are soft, beautifully drawn, and have this realistic property to them that makes me want to wear this version of the skin all the time.  It is the perfect skin when I am feeling the urge to glam it up a bit.

The cigarette that I am using is from Hermony.  I am absolutely so impressed with everything that came with this.  There are a variety of versions, a coffee cup, an ashtray, and then on top of that you can purchase various accessories and add ons to customize your cigarette. Stop by the store and check out all the different options available.   The cigarette even had built in face animations with it.  This was a great find, and a worthwhile purchase! I haven’t found a cigarette I like better in Second Life.

Oh hey there everyone! I’m sure it comes as no surprise that I have once again found myself at the beach.  My favorite place on all the earth.  I wanted to find a beach location today to show off the new releases from Sissy Pessoa’s store Baiastice.  It was a big release, featuring an array of mesh bikinis in all sorts of styles, and a few styles of shorts/capris as well. All of the items are high quality, beautifully made, and full of awesome.

I will be honest about one thing when it comes to mesh bikinis/lingerie.  I have not fully jumped on the bandwagon yet.  I love the mesh tops to these sexy pieces, but the bottoms just don’t look entirely right on my avatar.  This is of no reflection of the creators of these items, as while I was standing in Baiastice yesterday someone was demoing a bikini and the bottoms looks near flawless on her.  Me? Not so much.  For some reason my avatar’s shape is just not suitable to the bottoms.  I guess I could adjust my avatar, but I was feeling too lazy to do so.

I instead, decided to show off part of a mesh bikini set, and Baiastice’s new shorts! The shorts and the bikini tops go quite nicely together.  You can find all the new items in an array of colors, textures, and styles, so I really encourage you to stop by the store and see for yourself.

Oh, and on a final, and slightly unrelated note… The lovely Miss Berry has an interesting post up today about the Second Life Marketplace.  Until today, it’s a topic I never thought too deeply about, but I am really curious what your opinion is on the subject.  Stop by her blog and check out the post.  I encourage you all to join in the discussion via comments!

Belleza has officially released Lily V2.  The skin is definitely an improvement on an already beautiful skin, and has an array of awesome options and features.  The skin is sold with the blonde eyebrow and hair base and comes in six different skin tone options to choose from.  Don’t worry brunettes and redheads, you can purchase affordable red brow or dark brow tattoo layer if you would like the skin to work with your hair color!

Each full skin pack comes with 20 makeup options.  TWENTY!  Amazing.  I’ve had a lot of fun playing around with all my different options available.  One thing that I absolutely love about Tricky Boucher’s skins is that he takes the time to include a makeup chart in his packs.  I think this is an incredibly useful feature as I don’t have to take the time to try on every single one of my skins, or attempt to remember which makeup is on which skin.  Skin makers all around, I wish would take a clue from this great feature and consider having their own makeup charts available. Such a perfect companion to such an expansive skin pack!

Chain and Vine put out this cute summer dress as a group appreciation present yesterday.  If you were in the group you received the gift!  I really encourage those of you who are not in the group to join up.  Lyric Demina is always so gracious and appreciative of her customers and takes the time very often to release gifts to her group members.

I was inspired and encouraged to start up a new little project.  I really encourage you all to get involved!  You can find all the info below!

Lately it feels as if Second Life has been filled with a lot of drama, negativity, and all around…BLAH! I know I for certain have contributed and adopted this new negative attitude, and I want to erase it not only myself, but anyone else who feels they are in need of a little positive uplifting as well. So here’s the scoop….

Each week I will pick one person in the Second Life community that I feel has displayed a positive attitude and an overall kind nature that week. I will then offer to do a free portrait for them! I will post my photos to my flickr under the title “Pay It Forward Project” with a little excerpt about how they caught my eye. I will then encourage that person to “Pay it forward”, this can be by giving a simple gift, a kind word, a photo, etc… It can be anything as long as it’s positive and encouraging. Then…the person you paid it forward to, should be encouraged to pay it forward as well, and so on…and on…and on…

I really encourage you to join up with The Pay It Forward project! Whether you are a designer, a photographer, a blogger, or just someone who is capable of giving a kind word to someone, join up!

I know drama, negativity, and overall blah-ness are just a part of life, and also a part of any community… but I also know that a little bit of encouragement and a little positive reinforcement can go a really long way.

My first weekly pick for The Pay It Forward Project is someone I did not know until yesterday.  Her name is Veruca Monday, and she was someone who took the time, effort, and energy to reach out to someone she did not even know.  What Veruca does not realize is that her words and actions went farther than she realized, as she was the person who inspired my entire community project.  Thank you so much Miss Monday for not only being incredibly kind, but an encouragement in the community.

I am going to make it a goal each week to pick someone at random in the community who I feel is showing encouragement, and positive reinforcement in the Second Life Community.  I encourage you to start it up as well.  Whether you are a designer, blogger, photographer, or just someone who enjoys what the Second Life Community as to offer…GET INVOLVED! Pick someone weekly… show them how you appreciate them…whether it be a small gift, a photo, or a kind word, it does not matter.  Then… as you have done, encourage them to pay it forward to someone else!

A new collaboration between [Avoid] and Glitterati are starting to bring us some really fun, quirky, and exciting items on the grid.  I am certain I’ll have quite a few to show you in the future, but this first one instantly caught my eye!  An ice cream stand!

The ice cream stand is incredibly detailed and sits at 109 prims.  It comes with a snow cone machine, eight bottles of flavored syrups, an ice cream freezer, cones, and an adorable chalkboard menu.  Ten poses are included in the stand and multiple avatars can be on it at the same time.

One of my besties, the lovely Miss Paige Patrucci joined me.  Ironically while Paige loves ice cream, it makes her sick every time she eats it…yet, she continues to eat it.  How can I blame her?  For what Paige and I are wearing on our trip to the ice cream stand see below!

This week’s color challenge from Luna Jubilee is Dark Pink.  I…kind of bent the rules and decided to go with a lighter pink!  I kinda dig this hair color, and these eyes and all the pink pink pink!  I’m halfway tempted to keep the look going for a while.  It’s girly and sassy!

Belleza has a new skin coming out very very soon! It is Lily V2 and if you are in the Belleza group you will find that there is a very happy surprise waiting for you!  One of the medium tones has been released as a special advanced present, and it’s beautiful!  The skin will come with the option to buy brow tattoos, so if you are a brunette or a redhead and want darker brows, that option will be available to you!  The skin is soft, feminine, and has stunning detail that I think will make a perfect summer skin.

My last post was so dark and urban that I decided to lighten things up a bit with a simple, spring inspired post! Not a ton to talk about today.  I just pieced together an outfit with a few items that I’ve really enjoyed recently.  As usual you can find all the credits below! Have you had a chance to stop by Bouncer Criss’s newest store location?  Bounce This Poses has just opened at it’s fantastic new place, and the entire store is just awesome.  Situated in a globe, the urban themed store and surrounding area is a perfect place for photos and exploration.  The pose I am using is also from the store! Lots of goodies to be found!

I went for a more…rough around the edges look today.  I figured if I was going to be walking around back alleys, and down dark city streets I should fit the part!  I’m probably not fooling anyone though.  I’m not tough. At all.  One thing that I really love about this outfit though are the tattoos.  They are from Aitui, and what is really neat about this particular tattoo (and some others they have in the store) is that it comes with a notecard explaining the meaning behind it.  I’ve copied directly from the notecard below what this tattoo specifically means:

The red moon represents the Japanese flag, the stars
above the wrist represent the American flag.

The text on the outer arm reads:

fly fly fly
bomb bomb bomb
we have lost ourselves

The text on the inner arm reads:

“War is a quarrel between two thieves too cowardly

This tattoo is neither in favour of Japan, nor America.
It is a tattoo that speaks out against war in and of itself.

I just think it’s pretty neat that a tattoo designer in Second Life would take the time to put so much meaning behind their artwork and designs here.  If you are looking for new tattoos, Aitui is hands down my favorite tattoo place in Second Life.

Clawtooth has officially jumped on board the mesh hair wagon!  I’m quite happy to see it, as I love their hairstyles.  Two great mesh styles can be found at this month’s Collabor 88.
